so i hear on npr today that one of the new thriving busneisses in the current economy is ipod and cell phone repair.

BUsinesses are popping up all over the country because people can't afford to buy new phones and ipods when theirs glitches or breaks. I think this is awesome, because i have some broken down cell phones and ipod that basically just need to screens, one of the quickest and most common repairs done on cell phones and ipods.

Well i have goggled it, and checked out craigslist locally, and have not found a person doing it locally.

Do any of you out there know if the apple stores will do the ipod repairs ( i know that is more expensive ) or if there is any start ups that you know of that i can get ahold of? I found a few services i could do by mail, but i would like to go local if i can.

Thanks for any help.

My understanding is that if your iPhone stops working for whatever reason you can simply take it back and they will give you a new one. Sean did this just a few months ago, and our friend Dacia has had her phone replaced 3 times. Apparently there are a few glitches/known issues, so if it's a matter of the phone mysteriously not working, then they'll replace it no problem. I don't know if they'd replace it if, for instance, you ran over it with your car or if your toddler threw it on the b-b-q.

Also, if your iPhone is "jailbroken" -- I don't think they will replace it. And, too, in order to make the exchange work to your best advantage, that means you should sync the phone on your computer on a regular basis, because when they give you the new phone it will be a clean slate, but you can easily transfer everything back from your computer to the new phone. Again, that's what Sean did ... they even gave him instructions on exactly how to transfer the files so nothing got lost or corrupted.

As for the screen issue .... I just don't know. You might be able to send it back to apple and have them replace it ... but yeah, there'll probably be shipping, and they will most likely charge you for it.

Go to Best Buy at the Dimond mall, go to the Mac section they have, and ask for Ben. He is an old h.s. chum of Sean and Diane and Sam and all those other Steller alums. Ben is quite the whiz with Macs, and he would be a really knowledgeable and reliable source for suggestions on how to get your screens fixed!!!

    Good luck!!!
