We really need to have our own celebration here. We could call it Moldy Man or Shrinkage Man.

Hi! I am the regional Rep for BurningMan Alaska and we are planning a big regional burn this summer in Trapper Creek on the weekend of June 27th.

If you are interested in learning more about Holos or the other local burners join us for the monthly first friday art walk in downtown anchorage this friday. we meet behind the PAC by the sun on the corner of 5th and G at 5:30pm. We plan to hash out some details for the regional burn and I have some info I need to share with everyone who is interested in helping out with it. I have several things in the works including a raffle for a burningman ticket and possibly a reduced fare on Alaska airlines for the burn so stay in touch with me for all thing burningman alaska!

sign up for our announce list at burningman.com. you can find me in the regionals page for alaska.

I look forward to meeting and possible working with you.

It has been months since I have updated the photo gallery at the Alaska Burners Tribe but the first Friday art walks together have been all sorts of fun and increasingly well-attended by kids of all ages. If I recall correctly around 20 people showed up for the first Friday art walk together on one walk last summer. Folks who have never been but are interested in learning more about Burning Man are welcome, the art walk get-togethers are not just for experienced Burners still combing playa dust out of their hair from the last Burn.

One of the ideas we were talking about on the art walks awhile back was to get the Beartooth or another cinema for a showing of "Gifting It" -a favorite Burning Man DVD- or line up a smaller venue for a day-long or evening-long Burning Man film festival replete with chow and conversation in addition to enjoying several Burning Man films.

              Hoo-ray!!!

The Alaska Branch Office of the Burning Man Community Postal Service will be there and open for business, gifting Holos postcards to mail out to family and friends worldwide and generally being everything you've always wished a post office would be (such as "friendly" and "interested to hear about who you are and how you are enjoying the day").

I hear a gal from Fairbanks is doing something nifty around comic books in her theme camp, too.

Given the high Craftiness quotient present among some Anchorage tribal folk it could be we will see some Absolutely Fabulous costumes there so breathtaking and astounding that the wearers will not even need mosquito repellent, as the flying pests will drop stone dead from the air in awe at beholding such fantastic costumery. And, of course, some other folks may be wearing _only_ mosquito repellent; either way, the overall effect should be the same.

History will be made in Trapper Creek the weekend of 27-28JUN, as well as some good friendships and all sorts of great chow, music, dancing, and story-swapping.

There are at least five people I know of coming from the east coast and attending Alaska's own Burning Man event near Trapper Creek next weekend! Its will be great to have a mix of local folks plus such exotic color from elsewhere.

A fellow with a big truck is hauling out a full load of firewood for the campfire(s) so hot-dog roasting and marshmallow roasting is a go, for sure.

I hear the band Snack Pham will be performing live on a rustic stage area near the main firepit and at least one DJ will be playing goa and house music for folks who want to dance.

The Anchorage Shamanic Drumming Circle is coming together at Trapper Creek, so bring something to bang on (a drum, 5 gallon plastic bucket and wooden spoon, cowbell, whatever) if you want to join in.

                This will be great fun!
