So the hubby and I took the babe out to Eklutna yesterday for a picnic and a quick dip. Well.........plans changed :(

When we got out of the car we were immediately swarmed by flies and mosquitos. Like 20 flew straight for our faces aaaaagh! So I sprayed skeeter skatter and the mosquitos stopped, but not the flies. We decided to walk down to the water to see if it was better. Nope! just as bad. We stayed a few minutes and then it was unbearable, we had to leave.

I have been to Eklutna several times and this has never happened. Does anyone know when this crazy buggy situation gets better out there?

I was hoping the extended cold snap we had would reduce the crop of skeeters and biting flies this year, but I haven't seen it.

What you experienced could be a results of the mild Spring, and warm Summer.

Usually, by mid-to-late August, the bulk of the little bloodsucker population is down for the season...making billions of vampire babies for NEXT year.
