I'm looking for a place to go camping next weekend, but I've got some requirements.. We're looking for something maybe 2.5 hrs tops out of Anchorage (either direction is ok). We don't really want to do 'parking lot camping' but no huge hikes into the middle of nowhere either. Basically, not a ton of neighbors. Anyone know of a location like this? the help would be very appreciated! Thank you in advance!

Hope, if you don't want to go to the main campsite there is a mining road on the right near the church, drive up that a ways and a couple camping spots should jump out at you, should be few to no neighbors there. There are quite a few campsites around Cooper Landing. Exit Glacier in Seward has plenty of spots where you can pull off the road and walk a few yards in to camp, public use forest with lots of space between neighbors. Or you can go further into the park and use the campsite there. It has a parking lot then you walk into the campsites, far enough to get away from the cars but no further. There is Nancy Lake but you'll have neighbors. I road up towards Eureka Lodge the other week and there are lots of old gravel pits where you can pull off the road and camp.

      Silver Tip Creek

I think it is about an hour out. It is almost a mile before the turnoff to Hope. It is an old rock quarry that people have been using as a camp site since the road got finished. It itself might be a mile long, and we usually find one or two other families camped out when we go there. The river is pretty, lots of bear and moose sign. Owls at night. You can see the sheep up in the mtns.
No services, No cell phone reception. Sometimes you can hear the traffic from the road when you listen for it. In the close end to the entrance are a few camp sites right on the river (could be dangerous if you have small kids). We usually go as far in as we can, pull in, take the first right, and keep going. You will want to go slow to protect your undercarriage.
